Villa Monteporzano has been founded with the purpose of creating a unique place where nature meets history. Built in the 19th century, the estate retains the original architectural and historic charm thanks to a long respectful restoration process that is giving it an added enhancement. We have been engaging ourselves many years long to bring it back to its original splendor.
Ancient frescoes, handmade cotto floors, ceilings with beams of chestnut wood, stone fireplaces and pieces of history have been brought back to light.
The Estate is included among the historic most valuable properties in Italy and since many generations is belonging to the Counts Fiumi di Sterpeto, an important noble Umbrian family originating from the city of Assisi. Any corner of the estate tells our path that made this historic mansion the charming and welcoming place we had always dreamed of. Our Estate is only 2,5 km far from the medieval city of Orvieto and is surrounded by the green Umbrian hills; it is really the perfect place where enjoying the most peaceful and relaxing holiday and forgetting any stress. Thanks to its dominant position on the top of a 350 m asl high hill, it enjoys a breathtaking view of the tufa rocks of Orvieto.
The gorgeous surrounding landscape and the beauty of nature give our guests a regenerating power that will accompany them throughout their stay. This Estate offers different kinds and sizes of accommodations all inside the ancient stone building that was the family farm and barn formerly: five beautiful and comfortable apartments, some with own private outdoor space or private terrace, all furnished with simple and stylish country furniture. At few steps from the stone building the Estate welcomes the guests in the area of a beautiful swimming-pool surrounded by olive groves and English lawn and a spectacular view over Orvieto. The area of Orvieto combines perfectly nature, art, history, spirituality and local food&wine.
Thanks to its a strategic position, Villa Monteporzano offers the guests the chance to explore beautiful ancient borgo and unspoiled nature. In the surroundings it is possible to taste and enjoy delicious local food and visit wineries producing excellent wine. Within only 20 minutes driving it is possible to visit Civita di Bagnoregio, named ‘The dying city’ and the fifth largest Italian lake of Bolsena.
